Project Management

It is often said, project management is 90% communication.  I have found that to be very true throughout my career.  Maintaining effective communication with stakeholders has been a critical factor to the success of projects I have worked on.  It is amazing what can be accomplished when people are on the same page and working toward the same goal.  In the past ten years, I have managed on over 20+ technical projects including: website/ecommerce new development, existing web application integration, and platform and host migration projects for industries including: construction, real estate, healthcare, church and other non-profit.  I have also managed a significant charity project to build a therapeutic garden in cooperation with a major local hospital network. In these experiences, as well as my software development projects for AT&T and KeyLink Systems, I have gained valuable practice in interpersonal communication, working with positive and negative stakeholders, and how organization and communication keeps everyone happy.

I obtained Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in January, 2018 for work on projects over the last eight years.  License: 2148827

• Too many presentations to count given to community groups, business organizations, government officials, and top level executives

Interviewing / Listening

I am an empathetic person by nature who sincerely wants to be helpful.  I have found that taking time to really listen to stakeholders from the very beginning can save so much time in the long run.  Through experiences of both success and failure, I have learned that simple solutions as well as risks are often hidden in the details.  It takes a combination of attentive listening and experience to hone in on that discrete information.  As the saying goes, we have two ears and one mouth for a reason.

Documentation

From requirements documentation to technical writing explaining complex systems, creating materials that are comprehensible and effective has consistently been a strength for me.  At BellSouth/At&T, I received awards for my efforts in creating documentation that helped bridge understanding of certain applications across divisions.  I am very adept in the Microsoft Office Suite of tools, several visual modeling programs, as well as a host of collaborating and productivity applications.

Education and Training

I am very comfortable developing materials and leading training as part of rolling out new applications.  I enjoy the opportunity to combine my organization / logic strengths with my graphics abilities to create programs that are engaging and effective.  I have taken two adult teaching courses at UGA and made As in both. I also have experience teaching 2^nd, 3^rd, 5^th, and 6^th graders in a church environment.

Reporting and Forecasting

In my recent PMP exam, I demonstrated exceptional ability in Cost, Time, and Quality management. This includes a solid understanding and ability to fully utilize cost management formulas, statistical calculations as well as control charts, scatter diagrams, tornado diagrams, and more.  Again, the logical and graphics parts of my brain work together well in this capacity to present information that is useful and nice to look at.  The ultimate goal of course is clearly communicating the key information that impacts the success of the project so as to inform the best decisions.
